Dojo Etiquette

All Yudansha, students and parents/spectators must follow these rules and regulations.  Discipline is the most important part of learning Judo and will be enforced by all instructors.  This Dojo strives to build and teach good moral character, build self-confidence, a good healthy body and mind and a good competitive spirit.  To do this, we must follow these rules:

  1. Be on time.

  2. If you are not feeling well or have a fever
    we ask that you don't come to practice. 
    Temperatures will be checked as you enter the dojo.

  3. Bow-in when entering the Dojo and bow-out when leaving the Dojo.

  4. Always be courteous to all instructors by addressing them as Sensei. 

  5. Students must bring a mask, hand sanitizer, water bottle and exercise bands to every practice. 

  6. Judogi's must be washed after every practice. They are to be carried to the Dojo in a gym bag or properly wrapped. Do not wear your judge to practice. Slippers must be worn when off the mat. They should be arranged neatly along the side of the mat.  Wearing shoes or gym shoes on the mat is not acceptable.

  7. Fingernails and toenails must be cut short at all times.  This will prevent injury to others and yourself.  Hair should be clean and neat.

  8. Rings, jewelry, or other accessories are never to be worn on the mat.

  9. No unnecessary talking while on the mat.  Everyone will take part in all aspects of the practice.

  10. Judokas must pay strict attention to instructors.

  11. You must ask permission to enter the mat or get off the mat area.

  12. There should be no conversing between parents and students while on the mat.

  13. Positively no playing on the mat.  Practicing falls before class begins is acceptable.

  14. Students are to keep the changing area and washrooms neat and clean. Clothes must be placed in the students bags after changing.

  15. Members of this Dojo are the only people allowed in to the changing areas.

  16. No eating or drinking in the Dojo by students or parents/spectators except at designated events.  No gum chewing is allowed at anytime.

  17. Students must get permission to enter tournaments.
